Nail of the Day: Skull Accent Nail

6 Aug

Colors: Turned Up Turquoise by China Glaze, Studio White by CND Shellac, and some black nail art polish. Design by Hoang Le.

Unfortunately the photo is really yellow-y, the polish is much more green-looking in real life.

Nail of the Day: Turquoise Dots

16 Apr

This is actually not the nail design I have on my nails right this second, but it is what I had done when I went in for my last manicure about a week and a half ago.

Colors are Turned Up Turquoise by China Glaze, provided by my manicurist, as the base and Wallis by Butter London, which is my own polish, for the designs. I loved the combo, which is something I wouldn’t have normally paired together!

Nail of the Day: Zoya Izzy

16 Nov

This post is my first nail of the day, and I’m quite pleased to introduce you to Zoya’s Izzy polish! Izzy is a bright fuchsia with fine glitter that really catches the light. She’s part of Zoya’s Holiday 2011 collection and I received a sample size of her (0.25 fl oz, half a full size) in my Birchbox this month.

This is the first Zoya polish I’ve ever tried and I was really, really impressed! Izzy was perfectly opaque in one coat, which has never happened to me before. Even Butter London polishes—the most expensive polishes I own at $14/bottle—require two coats for full opacity.

I’ve only been wearing the shade for a day (since I painted my nails last night) but the wear seems pretty good. I will admit that I do have one small chip on the index finger of my left hand, but that was from banging my finger against some glass in a pastry shop earlier this evening. The chip is super, super minor though and I don’t think it’s the fault of the polish… just my clumsiness. There’s also been a tinsy bit of wear on the very edges of my fingers but that happens with all polishes I’ve tried, I suspect due to the way I type with the tips of my fingers/nails.
